A certificate is not a certification

A 3.1 material certificate to EN 10204 is a document that accompanies a lot: it states which heat the material comes from and what its composition is, issued by the material producer. We deliver it with every lot.

A system certification - ISO 9001, IATF 16949 - is something else: an audit of the company, carried out by an accredited body and renewed periodically. It says how the supplier works, not what it delivered.

Neither replaces the other. A supplier can deliver impeccable material certificates without holding ISO 9001, and can hold ISO 9001 without giving you the material certificate if you did not ask for it in the order.

What ships with every lot

These are documents we issue or pass on with every delivery. They do not depend on any system certification and are not conditional on one.

Batch traceability
Every part can be traced back to the heat number of its material.

System certifications

The standards an industrial buyer looks for. For each one, its status with us today is stated below.

No system certification confirmed so far. The status is being clarified with the company’s management; until then it remains an open question, not a claim in either direction.

  • ISO 9001:2015 Quality management system - the baseline requirement for any industrial supplier. To be confirmed Missing before publication The issuing body, with its accreditation · The certificate number · The date of issue · The expiry date · The scope covered - which activities and which site
  • ISO 14001:2015 Environmental management system. To be confirmed Missing before publication The issuing body, with its accreditation · The certificate number · The date of issue · The expiry date · The scope covered - which activities and which site
  • IATF 16949 Quality management system for the automotive industry. To be confirmed Missing before publication The issuing body, with its accreditation · The certificate number · The date of issue · The expiry date · The scope covered - which activities and which site
  • EN 9100 Quality management system for the aviation and space industries. To be confirmed Missing before publication The issuing body, with its accreditation · The certificate number · The date of issue · The expiry date · The scope covered - which activities and which site

What it takes for a certification to appear here

Five items, for each certification. Without all five it is not published - not out of excess caution, but because these are exactly what an auditor or a buyer checks before putting you on an approved-supplier list. A certification shown without them is checked in ten minutes and does not pass.

  • The issuing body, with its accreditation
  • The certificate number
  • The date of issue
  • The expiry date
  • The scope covered - which activities and which site

We would rather say what we have not verified than publish a claim an auditor finds wrong on the first visit. The same rule runs through the whole site: unconfirmed figures are marked, and open questions are written as questions.
