What decides at quotation
At a tolerance of a few tenths of a micron, the measuring instrument consumes part of the band - and what is left for the process is less than the drawing says. That is why the measuring method is agreed together with the tolerance, not afterwards. Second: dimensional stability. Small stainless parts distort under clamping and spring back on release; final dimensions are cut in a low-force set-up, last. Say whether the part is measured at a particular temperature.
