What decides at quotation
The sealing face decides, not the diameter. A good dimension on a rough surface loses the seal as surely as a wrong dimension does, and surface finish cannot be recovered at assembly. Mark on the drawing which faces seal and to what Ra; the rest is machined to the general class. The second question is traceability: if the lot must be traced back to the heat number, say so at quotation, not at delivery - it is recorded at sawing, that is, at the first operation.
